Help shape the future of The Level play area
The play area at The Level is well used and appreciated by both residents and visitors. After years of constant use, it’s now time to plan for its future.
We’re proposing a fresh, modern design with open structures and clear sightlines to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive space.
Sand play will not be included in the new design. This decision has been made following concerns about how to ensure a safe, clean environment as well as the cost of maintenance.
The council accepts this may be disappointing, but removing the sand will allow us to focus on other improvements to the play area and improve accessibility for all users.
Our goal is to give the play area a distinctive identity that reflects its unique place in the city.
In line with our vision for play, the updated space will feature long lasting, sustainable equipment with improved accessibility and play for all children.
We’re also aiming to meet the standards for PIPA (Plan Inclusive Play Area) Accreditation.
