Sport Lifts Her Higher

Sport Lifts Her Higher is a citywide campaign to support more women and girls to take part in sport and physical activity.

We know that women and girls are less likely to be active than men and boys, and that this gap can start early and continue into adulthood.

At the same time, there is already lots of great work happening across Brighton & Hove, led by sports clubs, volunteers, coaches and community organisations.

This project is about understanding what opportunities already exist for women and girls, what facilities are available, and what challenges clubs face when trying to increase participation.

Our campaign is about removing barriers. We want to celebrate and increase participation in sport for girls, women and anyone who identifies as female.

Sharing information with us

We're inviting sports clubs to share simple information about their current women’s and girls’ activity, facilities and support needs.

Your responses will help us:

  • build a clear picture of women’s and girls’ sport across Brighton & Hove
  • understand common barriers and where support is most needed
  • shape the focus of the Sport lifts her higher campaign during 2026
  • celebrate and promote local clubs through campaign spotlight posts

We also invite clubs to share details that we can use to promote their women’s and girls’ sessions as part of the campaign, helping more people find activities near them.

Who we want to hear from

  • sports clubs and activity providers based in Brighton & Hove
  • clubs offering sport or physical activity for women, girls, or both
  • clubs that would like to grow women’s and girls’ participation in the future
