Safer, Better Streets - Nevill Avenue/ Holmes Avenue
We’re looking to improve the crossings on Nevill Avenue and Holmes Avenue to make the junction safer for all users.
Every year we assess requests for safety improvements all over the city, using our 'Safer, Better Streets’ assessment process.
The proposed improvements include:
- Upgrading the current crossing points on Nevill Avenue to zebra crossings
- Making the Holmes Avenue crossing point near the junction with Nevill Avenue more accessible

Consultation Results
Thank you for participating in our consultation on the Nevill Avenue/Holmes Avenue improvements.
The consultation received 126 responses from residents.
The responses indicate the majority of residents feel that the current layout of the road is unsafe and support the proposals presented in this consultation, stating they will make the junction safer for pedestrians and children.
Following feedback questioning the need for two zebra crossing in such close proximity, we have removed the plan for two zebra crossings and plan only to install one on the eastern arm of the Nevill Avenue junction.
