Restrictions on unauthorised trading

During a review, concerns were raised about people trading in public spaces without permission. This can cause disruption and nuisance, and is unfair to licensed traders.

To address this, we are asking for your views on a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that would stop unauthorised trading in public spaces across Brighton & Hove.

What is this PSPO about?

The proposed PSPO would stop people from trading in public spaces without permission across Brighton & Hove.

The aim is to reduce disruption and nuisance, help manage public spaces better, and make things fair for traders who have the proper permissions.

The rule would only apply to people trading without permission. It would not affect traders who are licensed or allowed to trade legally.

Failure to comply

The PSPO would stop people from trading in public spaces without permission across the city.

If someone breaks this rule, they may get a £100 fine.
