Ovingdean neighbourhood forum and area applications
Some residents of Ovingdean have applied to create a neighbourhood area and forum. This allows local communities to plan the future of their area.
If approved, the forum can create a neighbourhood plan with local planning policies. This plan must follow the City Plan and will guide planning decisions in the area.
The proposed neighbourhood area includes Ovingdean and parts of the South Downs National Park. It covers the three wards of Woodingdean, Whitehawk & Marina and Rottingdean & West Saltdean.
This would be the seventh neighbourhood forum approved in the city, after areas like Hove Station and Brighton Marina.

We've received 2 applications from a group in Ovingdean. One requests to designate part of Ovingdean as a neighbourhood area, and the other asks to recognise the group as a neighbourhood forum. If approved, the group can create a development plan for Ovingdean.
In accordance with neighbourhood planning regulations, the contact details of at least one member of the proposed neighbourhood forum are as follows:

Neighbourhood areas are community-based and vary in size. Government guidelines suggest their boundaries should follow clear physical features like roads, landmarks or natural elements.
The process for setting up neighbourhood areas, forums and plans are outlined in The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).
