Moving traffic enforcement junctions
People across Brighton & Hove are being invited to have their say on proposals to improve safety at 5 busy junctions in Brighton & Hove.
We’re proposing measures to tackle dangerous and illegal driving, improve road safety and create safer streets for everyone who lives, works and travels in the city.
We've been given permission to use Moving Traffic Enforcement (MTE) powers under Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 by the Department for Transport (DfT).
These powers allow the council to enforce certain moving traffic restrictions, such as banned turns, one-way streets, no-entry points and other prohibited movements, using camera enforcement.
As part of our efforts to improve safety for all road users, cyclists and pedestrians, we're considering implementing the enforcement of moving traffic restrictions where there is evidence of poor compliance with existing traffic regulations.
We are now seeking your views on the following proposed enforcement locations:
- Carden Avenue onto Carden Crescent one way street
- London Road prohibited left turn onto New England Road
- Ditchling Road prohibited left turn onto Baker Street
- West Street prohibited right turn onto Rottingdean High Street
- Ditchling Road into Francis Street motor vehicle prohibition (except for access)

What happens next
We will analyse the survey results and carefully consider all comments received. The findings will be reviewed before any decisions are made or changes are implemented.
