Improving the safety of Chiltington Way
We’re proposing changes to Chiltington Way to improve safety.
These changes are based on concerns raised by local residents and parents and carers of schoolchildren.
Some of the issues include:
- Drivers parking on the pavement or mounting the kerb when pedestrians are present.
- Drivers reversing or driving along the pavement
- Vehicles blocking driveways
- Vehicles blocking emergency vehicle access to the school
Proposed changes to Chiltington Way
- Chiltington Way would become one-way southbound from Effingham Close to Falmer Avenue (cyclists would still be able to travel in both directions)
- Speed bumps would be added along the one-way section
- Additional time-limited School Keep Clear road markings would be included to ensure Saltdean Primary’s emergency vehicle access is kept clear
