Phase 2 background and survey

13 April 2026 23:00 - 26 May 2026 23:00

An initial consultation on the proposal was carried out last year between 22 April and 3 June 2025. That consultation received 169 responses: 60% of respondents were opposed to the proposal, 22% were unsure and 18% were in support. Feedback highlighted issues around travel and accessibility, SEND provision, the needs of younger year groups and the capacity and layout of the Nevill Campus.

In response to this feedback, the council paused the process and commissioned architectural designs for the Nevill Road Campus ahead of re-consulting.

The responses we received have shaped the plans that you can now see in the accompanying document. This second phase of consultation is your opportunity to tell us what you think about those plans. We want to know what works and what more needs to be considered before any final decision is taken.

Phase 2 of the consultation is supported by draft design work so the community can engage with a clearer picture of what the consolidated school would look like.

All responses during the consultation will be carefully considered before any decision is made.

The proposal follows a statutory school organisation process under the Education and Inspections Act 2006. The key stages are:

  • Public consultation: 13 April – 25 May 2026
  • Statutory Notice published: 8 June 2026
  • Representation period: 8 June – 6 July 2026
  • Cabinet decision: 16 July 2026

If Cabinet approves the proposal in July, the construction programme would be phased over the following two to three years, with a target completion of 2028/29.

Please take the survey to share your views on the proposal for Hove Park School to move to one site (Nevill Campus) from September 2028.
