Get Sussex Working Plan

The government's 'Get Britain Working' White Paper' sets out ambitions to support more people into work by addressing ill health to boost economic growth and build a healthier, more inclusive workforce.

We're working with East and West Sussex County Councils' to prepare a Get Sussex Working Plan which will facilitate reforms to employment support and bring together skills and health to help people into work and retain employment through greater collaboration between:

  • Jobcentre Plus
  • the National Careers Service
  • local councils
  • the NHS
  • the DWP
  • other partners

Working together will help us coordinate what’s already available and guide future funding, programmes and support.

Input from stakeholders and employers

To develop the Get Sussex Working Plan we need input from stakeholders and local employers. We want to know what's worked in the past and build on what's already in place, as well as explore new and innovative ways to address local employment challenges.

Following engagement with multiple stakeholders across Sussex, a draft Get Sussex Working Plan and draft implementation plan has been prepared in collaboration with East and West Sussex County Councils. As key stakeholders involved during the consultation phase, we are now seeking your feedback on the draft plans. This will inform the ‘Final Get Sussex Working Plan’ and implementation plan, which will submitted to the Department for Work and Pensions for approval. The Get Sussex Working Plan will remain a living document which will be reviewed and updated periodically. Pan-Sussex actions in the implementation plan will be progressed collectively by the three Sussex authorities and local actions will be led by each local authority area.

The Get Sussex Working Plan has been developed in response to the government's 'Get Britain Working' White Paper' which sets out ambitions to support more people into work by addressing ill health to boost economic growth and build a healthier, more inclusive workforce.

Please review the attached draft plan and appendices and share your feedback via the survey link.
