Elm Grove/ Queens Park Road junction improvements

We’re looking to make comprehensive improvements to the junction of Elm Grove-Queens Park Road, including changing the layout and updating the signals.

The proposed improvements include:

  • Upgrading the signals on the entire junction
  • Taking out the central island and widening the pavements of Queens Park Road
  • Reducing the signals from four to three, prioritising getting pedestrians across Queens Park Road in one go
  • Several SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems), to absorb excess rainfall, both rain gardens and tree pits
  • Greening of the public realm by planting the SUDS with flood friendly plants and trees.

Implementation phase

30 July 2025 - No end date

If the project is approved, we'll tender out the new design to contractors to make sure we get the best value for money and then build it.

The dates on this phase include the tender period and when we expect to start building the new junction. This isn't how long construction will take.

We'll provide details on construction dates closer to the time.
