Elm Grove/ Queens Park Road junction improvements

We’re looking to make comprehensive improvements to the junction of Elm Grove-Queens Park Road, including changing the layout and updating the signals.

The proposed improvements include:

  • Upgrading the signals on the entire junction
  • Taking out the central island and widening the pavements of Queens Park Road
  • Reducing the signals from four to three, prioritising getting pedestrians across Queens Park Road in one go
  • Several SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems), to absorb excess rainfall, both rain gardens and tree pits
  • Greening of the public realm by planting the SUDS with flood friendly plants and trees.

This design aims to upgrade old signals infrastructure and improve the layout of the junction. The ultimate aim is to make the junction safer, particularly for pedestrians, greener and more efficient for traffic flow.

We anticipate construction will take place in 2025. We'll provide more detailed information closer to the work starting.
