Drone use restriction in Brighton & Hove

We’re asking for your views on a proposed Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) about drone use in public spaces across Brighton & Hove.

During a review, concerns were raised about drones being flown in ways that do not follow Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) guidance and the risks this can create for people using public spaces.

We are now asking for your views on whether this PSPO should be introduced.

What is this PSPO about?

The proposed PSPO would prohibit the flying of drones in public spaces across Brighton & Hove where this is not in accordance with CAA guidance and requirements.

The aim of the order is to help address concerns about the inappropriate use of drones and to reduce potential risks to people using public spaces.

Restricted areas

All public places in Brighton & Hove.

Failure to comply

The PSPO would stop people from flying drones in public spaces unless they follow CAA guidance. If someone breaks this rule, they may receive a £100 fine.
