Draft hate incident policy for housing
We want to hear what you think of our draft hate incident policy for council housing so we can strengthen our response to hate incidents.
The hate incident policy is a guide which explains how the council responds to hate incidents affecting council tenants and leaseholders where they live. This includes people who live in our Seaside Homes and other temporary accommodation homes.
You may read the draft policy before or after you answer the questions. The questions themselves will include the information needed to answer.
If you have reported hate incidents to us before, there is also an option to tell us more about your experience.
You can read the full draft hate incident policy on our website.
Have your say
Have your say in how we help people who have been harmed by hate by answering some questions on our draft hate incident policy.
This survey is open until Monday 02 December 2024.

Phases
Consultation analysis & finalise policy
Once the survey has closed on 2 December 2024, we'll review and analyse the responses collected. Your responses will inform the final Hate Incident Policy, which will be used by Housing alongside our existing antisocial behaviour policy.
We will publish a report on this website setting out key themes of the consultation feedback and our response. We are planning to agree the final policy following the Overview & Scrutiny Panel in October 2025.
