Compton Avenue / Buckingham Place junction improvements

There's an increased risk of serious injury and road traffic collisions between the seafront and Old Shoreham Road.

With funding from the Department for Transport, we're proposing improvements to the junction of Compton Avenue and Buckingham Place to make it safer for pedestrians and road users.

The proposed improvements include:

  • Removing the centre road marking from Buckingham Place at Bath Street to Terminus Road at the Guildford Road and Trafalgar Street junction
  • Widening the pavements on both sides of the Compton Avenue and Buckingham Place junction to shorten the crossing distance for pedestrians
  • Planting a new tree on the pavement on Compton Avenue near the cycle hangars
  • Installing a ‘20 slow down’ vehicle activated sign on Terminus Road at the Howard Place junction

Have your say

Before we make any changes, we want to make sure we consider the views of local residents and businesses.

We're now asking for feedback on the proposal and for you to share your experiences of using the junction to help inform the final design.

Share your feedback on the proposals until Sunday 24 November 2024.
