Community Safety and Crime Reduction strategy

We are updating our Community Safety and Crime Reduction Strategy for 2026 - 2029. This strategy will guide how we work towards cutting crime and anti-social behaviour and making the city safer. To make sure it reflects what local people need, we’d like your feedback.

Background:

Brighton & Hove’s Community Safety Partnership is made up of representatives from statutory, voluntary and community organisations. We work towards cutting crime and anti-social behaviour and making the city safer. The Community Safety and Crime Reduction Strategy describes the direction of our work.

The next three-year strategy will cover the period from April 2026 to March 2029.  It is informed by a strategic assessment and developed in consultation with partners. The strategic assessment is a report that helps us understand what's happening with crime and safety in our area. It looks at what’s causing problems, who is most affected, and how national and local issues play a role.

We held a partnership stakeholder event in November 2025 to discuss the strategic assessment and how the work should move forward. We have now produced a draft strategy based on this strategic assessment.

What happens next?

The survey will be open for 7 weeks. After that, we’ll review all the feedback and use it to help shape the final version of the strategy. Once approved by the council, it will be published on our website. Action plans will then be drawn up and used to monitor progress.

You can read the full draft community safety and crime reduction strategy below and then share your thoughts by completing the online survey below. If you prefer to go straight to the questions, we provide some basic information about the aims and plans for the priorities in each section.

If you would like to view further information, the Strategic Assessment of Crime and Community Safety, which has informed the development of the draft Community Safety and Crime Reduction Strategy is available below. For the purpose of this consultation, we are seeking your views on the draft strategy document.
