Multi use path up the green from Lewes Road to the Avenue Shops

Laurel Dean•6 months ago A mixed use path along the green for people on foot and wheels. In order to maintain large areas of usable green space, I would send it up along along the north side as the southern side has a lot of tree planting now. I would also plant some shade trees along the path at intervals to increase tree coverage (the bottom of the valley is very open) and provide shade. Benches would be nice too.At the moment the green is a great space that doesn't have a lot of variation and isn't accessible (eg no benches, grass surface). This is a way to protect the space and increase its use by locals.Cycling up and down The Avenue is dangerous, as evidenced by serious collisions in recent years and reported near misses by every cyclist I know. Pavements on both sides are overgrown by hedges which makes prams and walking aids difficult to manoeuvre. Pavements are also used by people on bikes and scooters to avoid traffic risks, but are not wide enough for this to be safe. This would make at least part of Bevendean more accessible by foot and bike.
