Trees for Upper Lewes Road
From "Better Brighton & Hove fund"
Go to the project
When I first moved to the area in 2004, Upper Lewes Road was beautifully lined with large elms (I think). It's a busy through road, lots of CM, bit grubbytoo, but the trees always made it seem more than just a rat run. On the outskirts of a conservation area it looks sad; the entrance to Roundhill Crescent with its listed buildings deserves more. For various reasons these beautiful old trees had to be cut down; not only have we lost the beauty, but many of the health benefits those trees afforded us. Please can we have more trees planted along Upper Lewes Road, it really is a shadow of its former tree lined self.

I agree with you Melanie, UL Rd feels like a rat run and residents deserve more. I think that the trees felled should have been automatically replaced rather than having to ask.

Dear Melanie, I think this is a great idea for how to spend the CIL money in your ward and we at CPRE Sussex very much support it! If you would like any support with your bid (or future planting projects) it'd be great to join up. I lead up the Plant Your Postcode project for CPRE Sussex and would very much like to see more trees planted across Brighton & Hove.
