Tackling Dog Fouling in Hanover

From "Better Brighton & Hove fund"

Go to the project

Dog fouling is a persistent problem on Hanover’s pavements, especially outside people’s homes. I’m requesting a small amount of community funding for:

  • Dog-poo bag dispensers
  • Additional dog waste bins (including near Whichelo Place)
  • Pavement stencils reminding owners to pick up

These low-cost measures would significantly improve cleanliness and safety in the area.

While I agree with Daniela that dog fouling is a major problem in Hanover (and if you’ve had the “pleasure,” just wait until your child steps in a fresh dog “egg” on the way to school), I believe dog owners should be held accountable. Instead of giving them free bags and installing additional dog bins—bins that end up placed in front of people’s homes and quickly overflow—we should focus on ensuring that owners take responsibility for cleaning up after their pets.
