We do take on board your comments regarding the impact of the noise and note your comments about the length of the event, audience numbers, and your view that the volume on Sunday was significantly higher than on Saturday, which you felt was more appropriate for the setting.
It should be noted that the Sunday concert forms part of the wider St Ann’s Festival weekend and takes place as a ticketed fundraiser. The income generated helps support the free, community-focused activities held in the gardens on the Saturday. Without this funding, it would not be possible to deliver the wider festival programme. We do recognise that this does not lessen the impact felt by nearby residents if sound levels or duration are experienced as excessive.
St Ann’s Well Gardens is a highly valued green space, both for local residents and for wildlife, and concerns about nesting season and the suitability of the site for louder music events are noted. All events are required to operate within licensed conditions, including agreed sound limits, performance times, and environmental considerations. These conditions are reviewed after each event, and resident feedback plays an important role in that process.
We hold quarterly Outdoor Events meetings for Hove, which provide an opportunity for residents to raise concerns directly and engage with the Cabinet member for Culture, Heritage and Tourism, council officers and event organisers. The next meeting is scheduled to take place on 1st June- you can find information on this in the upcoming events listed below.

I'm sorry, but I need to complain yet again about the racket from the rock concert on Sunday in St Anne's well Gardens. My windows were shaking. I couldn't hear myself think, even with the windows closed. There's also a care home which was again subjected to this racket. St Anne's well Gardens is the totally wrong venue for a music venue. Saturdays were very pleasant, a little bit of music, but the volume was at least a reasonable level. St Anne's Wells Gardens is totally the wrong venue for these things. It's a quiet, serene area. Very residential, not at all suited to have rock concerts. 7 hours of hell . Eventually, 15 minutes before the end, I thought, "If you can't beat them, join them," so I went over to see what all the racket was about, only to find there were only about 20 people there. Let's hope this won't happen again and that the organisers have learnt their lesson that we don't want rock concerts in St Anne's Wells Gardens. And bear a little thought for the poor wildlife: it's nesting season. Last year's celebration of black culture was a nightmare also. As residents in this area, we shouldn't have to put up with this racket. Hove Park is a much better venue. I've taken some sound bites. Should you want me to send them to you where you can hear me trying to watch my TV with the noise going on
