Multi-user footpath down The Avenue

The current pathways both sides of the Avenue are unfit for purpose, narrow, uneven and blocked by cars, bins and street furniture. This makes them unpleasant and not user friendly for pedestrians, people with mobility challenges as well as children going to the local school or parents walking with buggies etc As the City strategy strives for a more inter-connected City, walking and better ways to travel.
Create a meandering path through the 3 greens (leaving spaces for planting and sports and the air ambulance to still land if necessary) to bring a new walking corridor into life for the residents to use. It would encourage the take up of walking and active living, help those with mobility issues use the walkway safety on electric scooters for example and be less isolated. This would be epecially needed if the Avenue Surgery is relocated to the Moulsecoomb Hub and people need to reach the avenue to continue their travel on for example. It would also connect us more meaningfully to the Lewes Road corridor.
This would also make using alternative means to travel more attractive, more safe, particularly for cyclists (after a nasty accident last year) and safer for children and adults use cycles for school and work and leisure.
