Hove Heritage Boards Renovation and Renewal - Brunswick & Adelaide

From "Better Brighton & Hove fund"

Go to the project

Hove Civic Society wants to restore, update and redesign the Hove Heritage Boards, spread across five Hove wards. Originally installed in 1990's the boards are now in appalling disrepair with the metal frames weather damaged and the text and design dated, lacking appeal and not reflecting the area' diversity. The lack of respect this shows for our heritage and townscape is shocking. This project seeks to change that through wholesale renovation including researching of site-specific bespoke content and re-design of the panels. The outcome will significantly lift the quality of public space, reinvigorate residents’ pride in their locality and provide important information about Hove’s heritage.

Coreen Sears. The boards give a positive view of the the history of Hove - in Albany Villas, we have 3 blue plaques and it gives me pleasure to read them each time I walk along the street.
These Boards are an important community asset, but are in a sad state. This project would restore and update them to help explain to residents and visitors some important aspects of Hove. This project deserves to be funded.
An essential and long overdue proposed restoration - funds please!

Good project - certainly deserves support by B&HCC!
All the Hove Heritage Boards urgently need renovation and the content needs complete redesigning and updating. They are currently a disgrace and have been for many years. They are an extremely poor advertisement for Hove and could be such a useful community resource if properly restored and linked to a trail and a website with further information for locals, visitors, school projects, health walks etc.
