Bring Waterhall changing rooms back in to use.
From "Better Brighton & Hove fund"
Go to the project
The bottom side of Waterhall playing fields are currently used by a diverse group of sports clubs.
For a number of years now the changing rooms have been closed to the users of the pitches meaning that they have no access to changing facilities or toilets.
As we see more green spaces closed off to those looking to participate in organised sport bringing this facility back to life would be a great asset to the area at Waterhall and to the City as a whole.
This would positively impact the lives of hundreds of people every month.

Completely agree with this proposal, many sports teams and local people use this space but having a space for changing and toilets again will allow a great deal more women's, girls and junior teams to make use of this fantastic space.

This is a proposal of common sense. Sport is an essential life line for the people in Brighton and Hove and this sports ground is underused because it lacks a key to the changing rooms and more importantly a toilet for players and spectators to use. This renders this large sports facility as inadequate and inaccessible for so many sports groups of all ages.
While I appreciate this will come at a cost, the grounds are already maintained and with the rugby club next door it seems that common sense and a basic cleaning charge can be applied to clubs that use it to allow the council to make money from hosting sporting events there.

Fully support this proposal. The local teams need access to facilities. Even as a spectator, I’ve found it hard that there is nowhere to go in such a well loved field. This is really needed for our teams on the fields, and a timely for getting it underway.

This is an absolutely necessary project to begin - not having changing rooms is a major barrier to grassroots teams of many different sports. Could also be used by the council for bigger events to private companies and clubs to help raise monies for their upkeep.
100% support this proposal.

Fantastic proposal. Having access to these facilities will make Waterhall a much more usable venue. Perfect for community sports/events and an option for bigger competitions.

I strongly back this proposal. This would benefit the wider community of Brighton who use these green spaces so we can have accessible changing facilities and toilets. If you want to see Waterhall used more and developed further then this is an essential move.

This proposal would make a huge different to players and spectators who want to come to waterhall for sports. As a female player it's difficult to rely on the two options - walking very far away to use a toilet which often isn't possible on game day or go to the bushes. The lack of facilities is detrimental to our ability to host other teams and provide space spaces to players to change, so this proposal would be huge for our team, our desire to create welcome and inclusive spaces and to provide a good experience for visitors and game crew. Investment here would surely pay dividends in bringing more people down to enjoy the area while also reducing the impact on the environment created by everyone having to relieve themselves in nature!

I strongly support this proposal to invest in facilities at Waterhall. It is such a valuable space used by many teams and the lack of facilities by the lower pitch limits who is able to use and enjoy the space, and who can support grassroots sports games. Our Brighton team is the only one in the league that cannot offer a safe and comfortable changing space and toilet to visiting teams which is particularly difficult for women. Due to the location there is no alternative toilet, and walking to the main building is out of the question before and during games with very limited time. The use of Waterhall for sports is such a boost to my social and mental health, it would be fantastic to see some investment and improvement put forward.

I strongly support this proposal. An improved changing room would support local community sports and facilitate a better environment for all members of the community that use this area, whether it be for recreational reasons or for sporting clubs.

I fully support this proposal and believe it would make a huge difference to many sports teams, players and spectators alike. Having working facilities, like changing rooms and toilets would ensure all players have a safe place to change, store their belongings and use the bathroom before matches or training. Currently the grounds users are having to use bushes to go to the toilet which unfair on teams who have travelled far to play at the grounds and disrespectful to the ground itself.
Development of this sports facility would create a real sense of community that is missing from Waterhall and greatly improve the wellbeing of its users.
