We appreciate residents providing feedback about their experience, and we take reports of noise, anti-social behaviour and the wider impact of events on the local community seriously. The Council has granted permission for these events subject to a range of conditions and operational requirements designed to minimise impacts on local residents and businesses. These measures include noise management arrangements, stewarding and security provisions, toilet facilities, litter management plans, and liaison arrangements with Sussex Police and other relevant agencies. The event organisers are also required to comply with the conditions attached to their licence and event permissions. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced disturbance from noise and that you have witnessed incidents of public urination and anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of the event. We will ensure that your concerns are shared with the event organisers immediately and that additional measures are put in place to prevent this. Any complaints received from residents, alongside reports from Council officers, partner agencies and the event management team, are considered when assessing how the event operated and whether improvements are required for future events. In relation to consultation, the Council recognises the importance of engaging with local communities affected by outdoor events. The Outdoor Events Team operates a programme of community engagement meetings across the city and has also established the Outdoor Events Forum as a mechanism for residents to raise concerns and provide feedback about events. As part of the Council's approach to event management, feedback from residents and stakeholders is reviewed following the conclusion of an event. This helps inform decisions regarding future permissions, licences and event arrangements. Where concerns are identified, organisers may be required to implement additional mitigation measures before future permissions are considered. The Council will review all feedback relating to the Black Rock Big Screen events, including matters relating to noise, public nuisance, crowd management outside the event footprint and community engagement, before determining whether any future event applications should be supported and, if so, under what conditions. Your comments have been recorded as part of the formal feedback process and will be included in the post-event evaluation undertaken by the Outdoor Events Team. We will also ensure that the points you have raised regarding noise levels, management of non-ticket holders outside the event area, public toilet provision and resident consultation are specifically considered with the organisers.
