Bike Lane Traffic Lights on Kings Road/Canon Place Junction
From "Better Brighton & Hove fund"
Go to the project
The road markings show that cyclists travelling east to west using the segregated bike lane, are able to continue moving forward at the first set of traffic lights at this junction, even when the lights are red. However, many cyclists do not realise this and I have seen on multiple occasions people almost crash into each other because the person in front has stopped when they don't need to. Adding bike lane traffic lights to this set of traffic lights would make it clearer that cyclists can continue on, make accidents less likely, and allow smoother journeys by bike. It would probably be sensible to also add lights to the pedestrian crossing immediately after, to make it clear that these lights should still be obeyed.
