Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs)
We’re asking for your views on renewing current Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and introducing new ones across the city.
Your feedback will help us decide how to use these orders to keep public spaces safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
What is a PSPO?
PSPOs are legal powers that councils can use to deal with anti-social behaviour in public places. They were introduced by the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
They allow the council, working with the police, to set rules or restrictions on certain activities in specific areas if those activities are causing problems or harm to others.
The council's role
We're responsible for setting up, reviewing and enforcing PSPOs. By law, these orders must be reviewed regularly (usually every 3 years) to decide whether they should stay the same, be changed or be removed.
Your feedback
As part of this, we ask for feedback from residents, businesses, and local groups to make sure any measures are fair, reasonable and meet local needs.
