A259 Active Travel Scheme
The A259 is an important travel corridor and has been identified as a priority route in the our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
We're developing a series of projects along the route, which will be delivered in phases. These proposals aim to improve journeys for everyone who uses the A259, including people walking, wheeling, cycling, travelling by public transport and driving.
This folder contains information on the projects being delivered as part of the A259 Active Travel Programme.
A259 Hove to Portslade
After a public consultation in Summer 2025, we're now delivering improvements to the A259 between Hove and Portslade. The scheme will help make the route safer and easier for residents, businesses and visitors to travel through the area.
We appreciate your patience during construction and will keep you informed of progress.
A259 Hove to Brighton
We're developing proposals to improve the A259 between Hove and Brighton and would like to hear your views. The proposed improvements aim to make the route safer, more accessible and easier for residents, businesses and visitors to move around the city. Your feedback will help shape the final design.
